- An associate’s or bachelor’s degree; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5-10 years of HR experience, with 2-5 of these in the area of benefits.
- Experience managing an open enrollment event.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Excellent keyboarding skills.
- Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office, Internet, email, etc.
- Good organizational, planning, and analytical skills.
- A self starter mentality and team player.
- Total discreetness with personnel matters and privileged information.
- The ability to handle reports requiring math skills
- Strong learning acumen.
- Excellent customer-facing skills.

The Role
Reporting to the HR Director, as the Benefits Administrator, you will be responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life, 401(k), disability insurances, FMLA, and medical leaves of absences. You will perform a full range of duties of confidential nature for the HR Department including administration of the benefit plans primarily for the Ceco Door, Maiman, SMP and Frameworks manufacturing facilities and the ASSA ABLOY service centers. Your efforts support approximately 700 employees, and you’ll also work closely with two other HR contacts who are seated in Iowa.You will serve as the key point person in answering benefits related questions, auditing plans, and ensuring compliance. More specifically, you will:
- Make recommendations and participate in the design of benefit plans.
- Prepare and present materials to be used to educate employees in benefit plans offered by the company.
- Conduct benefits orientation.
- Assist with enrolling new employees in benefits and process elections.
- Process status changes in online benefits portals.
- Prepare for and conduct open enrollment of benefit plans.
- Maintain carrier contact to effectively and efficiently administer the benefit plans and to troubleshoot specific issues.
- Maintain employee benefit files and other record keeping as appropriate for enrollment, routine maintenance, payment, and compliance.
- Track and monitor financial impact of benefits administration (including monthly billings, self bills, etc.)
- Administer and track FMLA, short-term disability (STD) and long term disability (LTD).
- Assist with Affirmative Action Plan if needed.
- Act as liaison for other HR locations concerning benefits administration within ASSA ABLOY Door Group.
- Ensure that programs are carried out in accordance with company’s policies and procedures.
- Assist employees investigate claims status as needed.
